Our customers range from confident contractors to hesitant homeowners. We provide them with supplies, services and advice to help get the job done right. We’re looking for a new Receptionist/Office Administrator, and we hope our search ends with you. Receptionist/Office Administrator:In this role, you’ll be the face of our organization, and the first person that our customers speak with. You’ll manage our busy phone system, ensure customers get the support they need by directing calls to the appropriate department, and support with general office management and assistance. Practically speaking, you will:* Answer calls on our multi-line phone system, respond to general inquiries, questions about customer accounts, and direct calls to the appropriate department/person* File paperwork, copy, scan, print, and fax documentation as needed* Create documents and spreadsheets using Word and Excel* Complete daily cash reconciliations, accounts receivable, and accounts payable* Order office supplies and support with other general office dutiesYou’ll be a great fit for this role if you’re eager to learn about our products to help our customers, if you’ve got a strong technical aptitude and can learn and use new software programs with ease, and if you’re personable and outgoing. To succeed in this role, you’ll also need to have strong communication skills, strong attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills. Our environment is fast-paced and incoming calls are high volume, so you’ll need to be comfortable with this and able to adapt as needed.Working at Valley Building Supplies:This is a permanent position working daily from our store on the outskirts of Powell River. This role is starting off as a part-time position working 3 days per week (Monday-Friday only, no weekends), from 8:00am-5:00pm or 7:00am-4:00pm, and can become full-time from Monday to Friday in the future. To start, you’ll earn $17-20 per hour commensurate with experience. Bonuses are available based on individual and store performance. We hire great people and we let them do their jobs – you won’t be micromanaged here.Qualifications: * Experience working in a customer service role * Experience using Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and working with Mac OS* Strong technical aptitude and general computer proficiency* Experience working as a receptionist or similar, managing a multi-line phone system or working in high-volume calling would be an asset* Experience working as an office administrator or similar with exposure to accounts payable and accounts receivable would be an asset* Post-secondary degree or diploma in any related field would be an assetHow to Apply: Our online application will give you the option to apply to this role as a complete person – not just a resume.
