UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA: Academic Assistant, Reception – Undergraduate Studies And Professional Development


This is a Full-time position in Ottawa, ON posted September 6, 2020.

Salary(Grade:07) Hiring salary range $50298-$63,534 Position Purpose Serves as initial point of contact for students for recruitment and retention purposes, in keeping with each program’s enrolment targets.

Prepares for and handles and student requests, acknowledges receipt, follows up and provides superior client service.

Performs administrative tasks, makes recommendations to improve processes, content and functions, approves requests and follows up with students, colleagues and services.

Answers common general questions from all stakeholders.

Assesses requests and redirects them to appropriate resources as required.

Organizes and maintains digital student files.

Maintains the integrity of the information management system.As an ambassador for the University and the Faculty, attends convocation ceremonies and various events to promote University of Ottawa and Faculty programs and services.

Essential Qualifications Knowledge of administration or business usually acquired through postsecondary studies and several years of experience in a similar role Knowledge of high school, college, undergraduate and graduate academic programs Knowledge and experience regarding interpreting, communicating and applying processes, policies and proceduresClient service experience Experience researching and analyzing data as well as creating administrative and statistical reportsListening skills and strong work ethicKnowledge and experience regarding digital file managementExperience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access), Windows and the internetAbility to deal with competing priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environmentOrganizational skills, excellent judgment and attention to detailAvailability to work occasional evenings and weekendsBilingualism English/French (spoken and written) Key Competencies Key competencies required at the University of Ottawa:Planning: Organize in time a series of actions or events in order to achieve an objective or a project.
