We are pleased to announce we have a newly created positon of Receptionist that we are seeking to join our practice in Winnipeg. We are looking for an energetic, conscientious professional, who can multi

– task to meet tight deadlines, has the ability to work independently while ensuring tasks are completed accurately and in a timely fashion. This role requires someone with a can do attitude that is experienced working within a legal firm as a receptionist and being that go to person.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Office Manager with all office functions;
  • Ensure calendars and events are up to date;
  • Drafting, editing, and filing various legal documents including pleadings;.
  • Preparing materials for mediation and pre-trial conferences;
  • Maintaining contact with client representatives and opposing counsel or any other persons involved in various cases;
  • Regularly communicating with the Courts, and Land Titles; preparing letters to all involved;
  • Answering phones and daily checking and recording of voicemails;
  • Sending mail via Courier; Registered Mail and Regular Mail;
  • Court running and pickup of various documents;
  • Keeping matters organized by establishing and organizing files; monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting actions; inputting information into file database and case management software;
  • Ability to manage the office tasks and responsibilities while holding one’s self to the highest level of professionalism ;
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment

Qualifications:

  • A legal assistant diploma or bachelor’s degree;
  • One to four years’ experience working in a law office;
  • Experience preparing legal documents, court filings;
  • Excellent analytical, communication planning and organization skills including creating analysis reports and presentations;
  • Experience with Windows (7/8/10), ProLaw, Microsoft Office;
  • Impeccable writing skills would be considered an asset;
  • Impeccable attention to detail would be considered and asset
